I can't believe it! Cuore:The Italian Sessions has been nominated in two categories at the 2008 Hamilton Music Awards. I'm honoured to be included in the ranks of Canada's finest singers in the Female Vocalist of the Year, and to have the recording itself nominated in the Best Traditional/Folk album. It is a testament to the timeless beauty of the songs of my heritage, home and heart.
The Awards are one component of the Hamilton Music Festival which will take place November 13-16 and features approximately 80 musical acts of all genres in clubs and theatres throughout downtown Hamilton. The festival attracts music fans and people from all walks of the music industry.
Patrick McKenna and Tom Wilson will host the Awards Gala on Sunday, November 16th. Check the HMA website for additional details and ticket information.
Cross your fingers! : http://www.hamiltonmusicawards.com/ 10.10.08 | WOO HOO! I was looking forward to heading back to Newfoundland in November to perform at the Canadian Folk Music Awards - a real honour! NOW, I have two other great reasons for making that trip...nominations in the Best Contemporary Vocalist and Best Ensemble categories for Uptown Goes Downtown Tonight. I wonder if the Thunder Bay Symphony Orchestra has ever been called an 'ensemble'. : http://canadianfolkmusicawards.ca 08.20.08 | Gimme Shelter! Back home after a few days soaking up the Couchiching sunshine at Just Jill's cottage. What a great place to relax and play some tunes with friends old and new!
Busy week coming up - two days in Cobourg at the Shelter Valley Festival and then off to BC the very next day. My new suitcase is becoming quite dizzy!
Hopefully the airline will not lose either the bags or the guitar. (they did both on the Newfoundland trip)
Speaking of Newfoundland...what a glorious spot! If you've never been to the 'Rock' you've missed one of Canada's most well kept secrets!
