The CFMAs, like the Junos, are judged by independent juries of industry experts, with a separate jury for each category; results are tabulated by an independent chartered accountant. The show will be hosted by CBC’s one-and-only Shelagh Rogers and Québec trad stepdancer-caller-musician Benoit Bourque, a former CFMA winner himself. Gala-goers will be treated to an entertaining and bilingual presentation of the night’s activities. : http://www.canadianfolkmusicawards.ca 11.28.07 | Uptown Goes Downtown Tonight There's a thoughtful and exciting piece written by Steven Baric of this project on the "Reviews" page. Part of the joy of this kind of endeavour is thanking all the people who helped make it happen! From the musicians of the TBSO to the coffee makers; from the fabulous sideguys (and much much more) Joe Phillips and Papa John King to the lovely Dave who drove everyone around; the fans - veteran and virgin- who came out to the live show; Dave and Keith and all the wonderful tech staff at the TBCA, Liz Harvey-Foulds who always seems to have a rabbit in her hat, and to the Ontario Arts Council who provided welcome financial support. (If you haven't been named personally here it's because I haven't had enough coffee this morning!) : Thanks!
